Effective Monday, February 12, 2024 I would like to officially announce the appointment of Sherry (Antone) Monastyrski to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Oneida Nation of the Thames. Sherry was the successful candidate after a competitive recruitment process.

Understanding the importance of this leadership role and creating stability, we are committed to this vision by making this role a permanent position within the organization. Sherry’s experience as Interim CEO over the past several months aligns with our goal to bring Oneida into a thriving, vibrant community rooted in our culture and language. Sherry is a member of the Oneida Nation of the Thames and is a devoted advocate for advancing the rights and interests of First Nations Peoples. She brings with her over 15 years of experience in senior roles at The Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians (AIAI), Chief’s of Ontario (COO), and the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) and worked closely with leaders to advance political priorities. Sherry has a Masters in Indigenous Governance from the University of Victoria and a law degree from the University of Ottawa.

My vision is to help create a place where people feel good about coming to work every day. I am especially looking forward to working with Chief and Council in governance and advocacy work that will make our community vibrant and welcoming while actively searching the voice of community and staff alike.
