Department:        Head Start Family Resource Centre                Salary:    $19.00–$24.00/hour – Based on qualifications

Hours:                    35 hours/week, Monday – Friday, 8:30a.m. – 4:30p.m., flexible to work evenings and weekends based on programming

Under the supervision of the Head Start Family Resource Centre Manager, the Family Program Assistant will facilitate an inquiry and play based drop-in program that engages parents in healthy child development interactions from pre-natal to age 6 as the primary focus. Drop-in and other programs will be reflective of Oneida cultural values and supported my early years pedagogy as outlined in ‘How does learning happen?’

The Family Program Assistant will be responsible for working as part of a team to engage parents and identify additional information sharing to support parent, care-giver and family well being, including assistance seeking additional support from other professionals or community service agencies.



  1. Secondary School Diploma OR GED;
  2. Minimum 1 – 2 years employment experience in a similar capacity;
  3. Early Childhood Education Diploma from a recognized college would be considered an asset;
  4. Valid First-Aid/CPR certification OR willingness to obtain.



  1. The successful candidate must submit a recent (within 3-months) Vulnerable Sector CPIC, at own expense, prior to starting employment;
  2. The successful candidate must submit a copy of immunization records, at own expense, prior to starting employment;
  3. The successful candidate must submit a copy of valid First Aid/CPR certificate [if applicable];
  4. The successful candidate must submit a copy of applicable educational qualifications (certificates, diplomas, degrees, etc.), prior to starting employment.
