Overview

Oneida Nation Head Start (ONHS) is a federally-funded program designed to promote school-readiness for preschool children living in our community. Our target population is at-home parents, caregivers and children ages 2½ to 4 years. ONHS provides daily half-day childcare programs that promote social interaction, creativity, language, healthy eating and family outings. Our Yethiyo’kuha (parent advisory committee) meets to discuss and decide on parent activities bi-weekly. Activities are intended to enhance language acquisition, health, child development and involvement opportunities. All programs and activities provided are supported with transportation services.

Mandate

Our mandate is to increase child initiative in life long learning, foster education development for parents and to motivate both towards achievement and appreciation within our community.

Mission
To strengthen understanding and respect for Oneida culture, traditions, beliefs, values, develop leadership and education among children. Further, to promote cooperation and understanding among parents, create positive self-image and develop self-reliance among families.
