Annual Walk to Honor Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls & Two Spirit

May 5 @ 10:00 am - 2:30 pm

Save the date for our 2nd annual walk to honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and two spirit, Sunday May 5th, 2024 from the Oneida Health Centre to Community Centre from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm.

We had great support this year, so thank you to all those who offered to help out and took lead on things, just ace! There will be a community sacred fire on-going at the front fire pit once we get to the Community Centre for anyone who may need to sit with the fire. Lunch is provided, an its a rain or shine event. We will review on Friday May 3rd what the weather looks like for the weekend. We are requesting some donations for door prizes from various departments, please let me know if you can donate anything. As well we are putting a call out for any volunteers to speak or share some stats. Last year, we had some wonderful youth share a poem.

Join us Sunday May 5th, 2024 from 10:00am to 2:30pm to honor and brings awareness to the thousands of Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit people who have been subject to disproportionate violence in Canada.

The red dresses symbolize the missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, and this day serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing crisis of gender-based and racialized violence faced by Indigenous communities in Canada. Let us continue to raise awareness and advocate for justice and change. Our team is asking all departments/ buildings to display a red dress in the front of your buildings/ with reception.
