Oneida Nation of the Thames Paramedic Service Management team is responsible for ensuring that vulnerable patients entering the healthcare system through the ambulance service are protected and receive the necessary patient care.
Oneida Nation of the Thames Paramedic Service provides care to Oneida, Munsee, Chippewa, and surrounding areas 24-hours a day. Our team is responsible for ensuring all patients receive the necessary care they need carried out in accordance with Ministry of Health (MOH) legislation, standards, and regulations. Paramedics perform Delegated Medical Acts overseen by the Southwest Regional Base Hospital. We have two ambulances and one supervisor unit operating out of one station.
Community Paramedicine (CP) is a broad and developing model of community-based health care where paramedics use their education and expertise in non-emergent mobile integrated response, to provide immediate or scheduled primary, urgent, and/or specialized healthcare to vulnerable patient populations while focusing on improving equity in healthcare access across the continuum of care. The Community Paramedicine (CP) program has rapidly expanded as a specialized and integral division within Professional Standards to support Oneida Nation of the Thames Paramedic Service reduce non-essential 911 calls, Emergency Department presentations, and hospital admissions. A core value of Community Paramedicine is to provide additional support and connections for high risk or vulnerable individuals, and support the province’s modernization plan to address systemic barriers in health care. Community Paramedicine (CP) provides care to a variety of patient populations through this program.
Mandated by the Ministry of Long-Term Care to provide access to Community Paramedicine for non-emergent procedures and services for patients who are waiting for placement in a long-term care home, patients who are soon to be eligible for long-term care or patients with specific chronic conditions. Community Paramedicine Long Term Care Paramedics undergo specialized training which allows them to provide non-emergent mobile response and work in collaboration with a patient’s primary care providers to perform a range of community-based primary care services in the comfort of a patient’s home. Delegation of controlled acts is under the authorization of the Oneida Nation of the Thames Paramedic Service, Community Paramedic Medical Advisor, in conjunction with the patient’s primary care or on-call provider.
