Overview

Oneida Nation of the Thames provides a strong advocacy role on behalf of child welfare clients involved with Ontario Children’s Aid Society in order to ensure that they understand their rights and that their right are respected. The Band Representation Service provides representation on behalf of Oneida Nation of the Thames as a party to all Family Court Proceedings when children are receiving child protection from Ontario Children’s Aid Society. These services are provided for cases both on and off Oneida Nation of the Thames, with the intent that wherever possible children who are Band members will be cared for by a family of Oneida Nation of the Thames, or by another Aboriginal Family and that they do not lose their connection to the Aboriginal culture and heritage.
